When the Pöckauers and Lindner passed through Villach
A slide presentation for the 75th anniversary of the Villach Carnival
At the end of February 1949, over 80 residents of Pöckau and Lindner, dressed in splendid homemade costumes with six colorfully decorated floats and accompanied by more than 20 draft and riding animals, paraded through Villach, thus establishing the Villach Carnival. On November 11, for the 75th anniversary of this event, there was a picture presentation at the Jagdstubn in Pöckau, attended by many interested visitors as well as numerous descendants of those involved at the time. On about one hundred pictures, one could first see the parades in 1947 and 1948 to Arnoldstein, which were the first such events in all of Carinthia after the war. Then followed many photos of nearly all the stages of the 1949 parade to Villach, accompanied by anecdotes and background information that had been recorded in countless conversations with contemporary witnesses during the research. As a highlight, the legendary carnival doughnuts made by Franz Mikl were served.
